Dynamic Shuttle
AUTOMATIC STORAGE SYSTEMS WITH SHUTTLE AND MOBILE VERTICAL FRAMES FOR FLAT GLASS SHEETS
The basic concept of the "Dynamic Shuttle" is to transport a frame fully loaded with one or more glass packs to the front of the loader to achieve extremely fast sheet pick-up times. The task of picking up the selected frame from a position in the warehouse to the glass sheet picking position is appointed to one or more mobile shuttles managed and controlled directly by the plant supervisor who acts based on sheet requirements automatically generated by the cutting lines depending on programmed optimisations. While the loader picks up the sheets, the shuttle is able to pick up another frame and place it in a second loading zone (to speed up production changeovers) or it can replenish the warehouse without any interruption to the glass sheet picking and cutting operations. When two frames are positioned in the sheet picking area, the exchange of frames is very quick since you can equip the plant with a motorised parking station: this device means production changeover takes less than thirty seconds.
A further strong point of this type of plant is that it can be equipped with an external pack replenishing station, which can be put in an easy to reach area for the overhead crane and the rest of the plant can be installed in an area that is not covered by the overhead crane since frames are automatically moved by the shuttle. This feature means this type of system is particularly suitable for premises that don't have high ceilings or in places where glass packs need to be moved from one bay to another.
Automation is managed via the latest PC-based control technology, which combines the flexibility and performance of PCs with the robustness and stability of PLCs, thus enabling plants to achieve high performance in complete safety and reliability. Management and control takes place via an independent control panel which communicates directly with the float glass and laminated glass cutting lines with which it continuously exchanges information in a perfectly integrated manner and automatically receives the loading and unloading lists.
